CHOOSING YOUR EVENT COLORS

Colors are great! Colors are cheerful! If you choose the right colors, your event venue will look amazing! Choosing colors for your event is necessary because without doing so, your event will look scattered and disorganized, and i'm sure nobody would want that. If you don't have any colors, your event planner could help you choose.

Your decorator will ask you for your colors of the day. If they do, it is pertinent to have your choice ready.

Choosing your colors is one of the first steps to be taken when planning a event because it will guide the other arrangements. Every other arrangement may require colors, and in that case, it will be advisable to use the color code.

Other areas that may require colours are:

The invitation cards
The bridal-train (In the case of weddings)
The venue decor
Asoebi

There are lots of colors to choose from. You may combine 2-4 colors. But no matter the number of colors, the key point is to make sure that these colors blend. They shouldn’t contrast each other. Rather, they should complement each other. Don't let your event venue look like a carnival. If you have your personal favorite colors, you could use them. Examples of combinations are as follows:

Mint green and gold
Peach and cream
Rose, peach and cream
Mustard and light brown
Coffee brown, light brown and cream
Sea green, cream and olive green
Mint green and peach.
Olive green, cream, and gold
Turquoise blue and gold
Black and fuschia pink (Yes, it werks! check out Basket mouth's wedding, amazing!)
Silver and pink
Burgundy and gold
Light blue and yellow

That is to mention but a few. You could use the list above to help your choice. Remember, choose wisely. If you get confused, ask a friend with a good eye to help you choose. Even if the venue doesn't look too good, choosing the right colors will give it a new and better look. Having said all that, Good luck, and have fun!

MAKING OUT AN EVENT BUDGET, HOW NECESSARY IS IT?

Where do i even begin? I can not stress the fact enough that making a budget for your up-coming event is a necessity. Most people just plan their event and pay for every aspect as the bills come. They dont know that it is possibe to make up a budget and work aroud it.

These times are hard times, and people try as much as possible to manage. But the fact that things are hard does not mean that you cannot have a lovely event. All you have to do is check your pocket and figure out how much you can afford to spend on your event, then, make out a budget based on that amount. When hiring vendors to cover the event, keep in mind the very amount you budgeted for that vendor and ensure that you stick to it. For example, if your budget for food is N500,000, bargain with the caterer very well so that you end up paying exactly that amount or even lower. When bargaining, go lower than your budget so that eventually, you and the vendor will finally settle on your budgeted amount or lower than it. If the chosen vendor refuses to charge you the amount on your budget, you can let go and search for other vendors for that item. Thank goodness that now, we have a vast amount of people in the event business. Lots of caterers, bakers, decorators, etc. You can research and choose one that is tailored to meet your needs, and believe me, you will definately find one.

If you hire an event planner, ensure that they make out a budget for you. A professional event planner knows that it is an important step in planning an event. Your planner meets with you and you make out the budget together according to your pocket.

Budgeting helps you save. When you budget, you realize that you save instead of splash. If you decide to just get the vendors and pay them as you go or as they come, you will end up spending more on a service you would have gotten for less. So, cut your coat according to your size.

Need i say more? If you have an up-coming event, and you dont want to hire an event planner, don´t fail to make out a budget and stick to it. Do so and you will be glad you did.

Having said all that,

Happy budgeting!

ARE EVENT-PLANNERS A NECESSITY OR A WASTE OF MONEY?

WHAT DOES HIRING AN EVENT-PLANNER MEAN TO YOU?

To some people, hiring an event-planner just means adding another expense to an already expensive day. But to others, hiring an event- planner means saving time and money.
No matter what it means to you, hiring an event-planner may just be the wisest decision you take about your event.

In Nigeria, Lots of people don't believe in hiring professional event-planners. They feel that their family can very easily do all that which they would "waste" money paying an event planner for. They have this notion that event-planners are really expensive. But i have good-news for you, there are now a lot of event-planners to choose from in the industry now, and most of them are suprisingly cheap. Just do your research well, and you will find one which fits your budget.

Lots of brides and mothers (In the case of kiddies parties) are in the working-class, and may not have the time to do the planning themselves, and end up leaving one thing or the other out. Some get sooo stressed out that they decide to rush everything and the event ends up being scattered and disorganized. In this case, event-planners are indeed a necessity.

Choose an event planner, relay to him/her what your dreams/desires are, and i assure you, you will not regret it, unless its a case where u contract one who doesn't know his/her onions.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU BUDGET FOR AN EVENT-PLANNER?

Well, if you want your big day to go hicth-free, then, you should.

If you dont want to worry about anything at all, like the venue decorators finishing on time, or the cake arriving safely and on time, or the band messing up terribly, or your guests being comfortable and having food to eat, or even the loo being clean enough for your guests, or your drinks being chilled and other numerous things that could go wrong, then, you should infact budget for a proffessional planner.

If you want to relax and thoroughly enjoy your day, then believe me, you should budget oh!.

Well, finally, event planners can get you discounts from vendors, which you couldn't have possibly gotten yourself. This is possible because event-planners have a kind of 'networking-system'. They also know the right vendors to meet.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN AN EVENT PLANNER

Look for an outfit that pays attention to even minute details. Doing so will make them leave no room for mistakes.

Often times, its good to try up-coming event-planners because the passion and zeal to excel is still fresh in them, and you will be lucky enough to get the best out of them.

Look for planners that respect their 'name' and wouldn't want to tarnish it. Let's face it, some planners do not care, as long as they will get paid. They dont care what happens after the event. They fail to see the big-picture, that if the co-ordination was good or bad, people will eventually want to know who planned the event. They forget that 'word-of-mouth' is necessary in advertising.

Look for planners that geniunely care about their clients, it shows that they'll go the extra mile for you, even if it means tapping into their own profit.

So, what am i saying?

I'm trying to urge u into taking a decision you wont regret. Lol!
